So if I want someone to join my yahoo group, they HAVE TO HAVE a yahoo id/yahoo email?

I don't want to make people get a yahoo id just to join my group. I'd like it if they could just provide ANY email, and verify it of course.

No. But if they don't have a yahoo ID, they cannot access the files/photos etc sections of your group.
Reply:They can be email only members without a Yahoo ID or yahoo email. They can join by sending an email to groupname-subscribe@yahoogroups.com (where groupname is your actual group name) from their email account. They will get all the group messages sent to their email and they can respond.

However, they won't be able to access any of the web features of the group without a Yahoo ID. So, photos, files, polls, etc, all require an ID to use. But if the group is mostly for messages, then they should be fine without an ID.
Reply:you can have a yahoo ID and use any other e-mail in a group membership- I don't use Yahoo mail ever. it's best to have a yahoo account, but not required:
