How to I change my email address/user ID without having to start an entirely new account?

For example- My yahoo ID is sleeplow112001. I would like to change it to something different while retaining the data that is in my current email account (folders, messages, etc.)

How to I change my email address/user ID without having to start an entirely new account?
you will need to create a whole new account but you can then transfer your exsisting email to that account.
Reply:Sign into "sleeplow112001" email account, and in the top right, you should see "what's new". In there it mentions about creating a new email addy with a dot (.) in it. You can choose it when sending out emails etc from that same ID. Can receive emails with that new name into "sleeplow's" inbox. And if you use messenger, that new dot name will show up as an alias, which if you want to chat on it, you'll have to choose it from the drop down list.
Reply:you can create a new profile. goto account setting select new profile and create one. You can receive mails on both the account and you will still retain one single mail box. ( in short, we can call it alias to the existing ID ).

Hope this helps you.

With this way you can give new mail id to others and no need to loose old ID and mails too.
Reply:I don't think you can. I had to start another whole account to change my Yahoo ID.

Can I change my Yahoo! Mail address or add a second one to the same account?

Good question!

Once your primary Yahoo! Mail address has been created, you unfortunately can't change it. But not to worry, because with the handy Extra Email Address feature, you can now create an extra Yahoo! Mail address that's linked to your Yahoo! Mail account. You can then use the extra one for work, family, whatever.

And email sent to this extra address will automatically be sent right to your existing account.

In short, it's absolutely free -- and you can use it exactly as you would your primary email address. To learn how to get your own Extra Email Address, click here.
Reply:by clicking on my account then Edit/Create Profiles (on the right) create new public profile then write the id you want after that click create profile. :-)
