Is there a way I can close my yahoo email but keep the ID active for messenger?

I no long use my email with this ID and want to close the email or block all email from being sent to this address.

Is there a way I can close my yahoo email but keep the ID active for messenger?
i did it inadvertantly -- i didn't log into my mail for 90 days, so they cut off my mailbox. however, i can still log into all other yahoo stuff with the same login i.d. -- i didn't have to reregister it or anything.....

Reply:yes, if oyu sign into your email, and then instead of signing out, just close it, your id will remain open for yahoo answers and all that stuff
