Is it possible to find out the location from where its sent. I did a detailed view and have the IP address of the sender.

Trace the email ID and location?
tracert IP ADRESS

or

you can use a visual software for routing, like Visual Route - http://www.visualroute.com/
Reply:no
Reply:you can find out where that email server comes from but not where the user is. and that's because the user is connected to that hostname f.e hotmail with a username %26amp; password and sends that email.

tracert x

where x can be ip address or hostname
Reply:As you already know about how to get an IP address from a mail. Now go to easywhois.com and check from where it has come, but the problem is for general users like us it will not be very helpful because suppose the person mails from gmail server or hotmail server then the ip address will track to that server only.

But the Security agencies use much advanced technique which is not for public use. They can track down a person from where the mail has come.

I have found more information on how email works and how to troubleshoot email related problems at http://tinyurl.com/nnv9f
